"Bernie" was a major part of our team for over 20 years while working up to the very end with almost 50 years with Wells Fargo and predecessors. Mr. Puckhaber was a graduate of the College of Charleston with a liberal arts degree in history and a minor in economics. He was a past member of the Board of Trustees, College of Charleston Foundation Board, and former President of the College of Charleston's Alumni Association.
Mr. Puckhaber took an extremely active role in College of Charleston athletics while attending the University. As a student, Mr. Puckhaber was on the basketball and tennis teams. In 1950 he earned the honor of being named to the All South Carolina team for basketball. He served as the coach of the College's basketball team in 1956. His efforts on the basketball and tennis courts and sideline earned him a spot in the College of Charleston's Athletic Hall of Fame.
Bernie was employed in the securities/investments business for over 55 years, 10 of which was with Merrill Lynch where he served as Operations Manager and then as an Account Executive. In 1965, Mr. Puckhaber joined Johnson, Lane, Space, Smith & Co. as an Account Executive and Co-Branch Manager. Mr. Puckhaber remained with basically the same firm, which is now, Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network.
He was married to his life long friend, the former Anne Stender. They had two grown children, Susan and Allen. They had one grandson, Matthew.
