Nicholson Wealth Management Group becomes a registered investment advisor

Joe Nicholson and the entire team at Nicholson Wealth Management Group are THRILLED to announce their departure from Wells Fargo’s independent broker-dealer to re-launch their practice as a registered investment advisor (RIA) firm. The practice plans to shift all client assets to Charles Schwab as the custodian.

“This has always been in our long-term plans,” said CEO Joe Nicholson, a top-ranked advisor with more than three decades of experience in financial services. “Now unbound by the wirehouse’s rules, we can expand the menu of products and services our team can offer to the Charleston community and beyond.”

As an independent RIA operating as a 100% client fiduciary and on a fee-only model, Nicholson Wealth Management Group will now pursue a litany of family office initiatives.

“We’ve instituted an aggressive push to have the best technology with concierge service. Being a registered investment advisor means we can acquire the tools to offer our clients the best investment advice available,” Nicholson added. “It’s about smashing glass ceilings – and our client’s expectations.”

With the power of independence, Nicholson Wealth Management Group’s service model will now include tax planning, estate planning, and other family services. The team’s former wirehouse broker-dealer, Wells Fargo FiNet, didn’t allow for certain investment products. This limited Joe’s ability to offer the kind of non-advisor services that wealthy clients are increasingly expecting.

“With Wells, we weren’t allowed to advertise that we offer investment and planning services. Our feeling is that high-net-worth clients seek these services as part of a comprehensive plan,” Joe reflected. “Now we can add holistic aspects to a client’s plan, including alternative investments and full family office services.”

All in all, this is a momentous and exciting change for the clients at Nicholson Wealth Management Group and the greater Charleston community. Get to know more about Joe and the team by calling 843.790.2625 or visiting them at www.nicholsonwmg.com!

Footnotes

  1. The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years' experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Neither Forbes or SHOOK receive a fee in exchange for rankings.
  2. The Premier Advisor distinction is held by a select group of Financial Advisors within Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as measured by completion of educational components, business production based on either of the past two years, and professionalism. Additional criteria, including length of service, may also be used to determine recipients.
